About King’s

Education at The King’s Christian School involves instruction in which the authorship of God in all true knowledge of creation and its affairs is gratefully acknowledged and honored.

– Philosophy of Education

Welcome to The King’s Christian School! TKCS was founded in 1946 as a parent-sponsored Christian school dedicated to its mission statement, “In partnership with Christian parents, The King’s Christian School equips and strengthens students through education and example to stand firmly on God’s Word and to become servant-leaders who impact the world through a Christ-centered life.”

The King’s Christian School is a nondenominational, college-preparatory school for students in grades PreK through 12. TKCS is owned and governed by The King’s Christian School Association, which maintains a constitution, adopts the school budget, and elects the Board of Directors.

Our Vision

In submission to Jesus Christ, our Savior, the vision of TKCS is to provide a school that promotes the following:

  • Excellence in the academic, spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of students.
  • “Ownership” of TKCS among parents, students, alumni, employees, friends, and churches.
  • Developmentally appropriate co-curricular and extra-curricular, biblically-integrated opportunities that challenge students to their maximum potential.
  • A safe and stimulating Christ-centered learning environment that includes grades PreK-12.

Our Philosophy of Education

Christian education at The King’s Christian School involves instruction in which the authorship of God in all true knowledge of creation and its affairs is gratefully acknowledged and honored. As such, it encompasses instruction concerning all truth that is revealed to man.

The ultimate goal of education at The King’s Christian School is to prepare students to be “fit for the Master’s use,” helping students glorify and enjoy God. This involves spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical training. While it is recognized that end results rest largely with individual students and their aspirations, the responsibility of the school is to provide an atmosphere where optimum growth is both possible and encouraged. The King’s Christian School is committed to providing a quality Christian education for as wide a spectrum of children from Christian homes as possible.

Our Core Values

Christ Centered

TKCS is founded on the infallible and enduring Word of God, integrating the Christian worldview into every aspect of academics and student life.

Biblical Foundation

A biblical worldview is integrated into all curricular areas, providing students with a biblically grounded, Christ-centered, God-honoring environment.

Excellence

Using biblical values, we develop the academic, spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of our students.

Parent Partnership

King’s partners with supportive parents who covenant to provide time, prayer support, and biblical stewardship principles to accomplish the vision of TKCS.

Character Development

Students are guided to grow in character, responsibility, spiritual discernment, and submission to Christ.

Servant Leadership

We teach and model servant leadership in both the mission of TKCS and as a defining trait of our staff, who dedicate themselves to the education of our students.

In 1946, The Association of the Christian Day School of Camden County was organized after Dr. Cornelius Van Til spoke to a small group of interested Christians about the significance of centering education on the Word of God. The group pooled their resources and prayerfully began a partnership that forged the Christian school that today is known as The King’s Christian School.

The school opened its doors to students in grades 1-3 in the fall of 1946, meeting at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in West Collingswood. The first Board President, Rev. Edward Kellogg, stated, “The basis of this school is the infallible Word of God. What an enduring foundation! If the school continues on such a foundation, it will long endure to the glory of Almighty God.” The school grew steadily over the years and moved to a number of larger locations in the Camden County area.

Some of the highlights of this growth included expanding to grades 1-12, adding a kindergarten and preschool, and achieving accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 1980. That same year, the school’s name was changed to The King’s Christian School.

One of the problems faced by the school as it grew was that, due to its size, the school had to meet at a number of different locations simultaneously. In order to solve this problem, a building was purchased in 2003 at 5 Carnegie Plaza in Cherry Hill and was completely renovated to form a modern educational facility. The entire school was consolidated at this location in 2005. Since then, God has continued to bless the school as it has maintained its ACSI and Middle States accreditations and is recognized as one of the 50 best private schools in the Philadelphia region.

All of these developments make it possible for The King’s Christian School to continue to achieve its mission of producing students “who impact the world through a Christ-centered life.”

We recognize that The King’s Christian School is not a church but rather a supportive arm of the church, and that it does not replace the unique and distinctive elements of the local church. This abbreviated statement enables us to share the doctrinal position of The King’s Christian School with you. It is a doctrinal position based on the infallible Word of God and interpreted in accordance with the reformed standards of the Westminster Confession of Faith (the London Confession of 1689).

About God

We believe that God is a Spirit (John 4:24): infinite (Job 11:7-9), eternal (1 Tim. 1:17), unchangeable (James 1:17; Mal. 3:6), and incomparable (Ps. 145:3; Rom. 11:33-36) in all that He is; one God but three persons (1 John 5:7; Matt. 3:16; 28:19-20; 2 Cor. 13:14)

the Father (Eph. 4:6)
the Son (John 1:14; 10:30)
the Holy Ghost (John 15:26)
Our Creator (Gen. 1:1; John 1:10), Redeemer, and Sanctifier, in Whose power and wisdom, righteousness, goodness, and truth (Rom. 1:20; Jer. 10:12; 32:17) we may safely put our trust (Prov. 3:5-6; Acts 17:24-25).

About God’s Word

We believe that our one aim in life and death should be to glorify God (1 Cor. 1:31; 10:31) and enjoy Him forever (Ps. 73:25-28; 90:14), and that God teaches us how to glorify and enjoy Him in His holy Word – that is the Bible (Ps. 1). He has given the Bible by the infallible inspiration of His Spirit (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21), allowing no errors in original writing, in order that we may know with certainty what we are to believe concerning Him (2 Tim. 3:15) and what duty He requires of us (Ps. 119:9-11; 105; Mic. 6:8; Matt. 22:34-40). We believe that the canon of Scripture is closed with the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Heb. 1:1-2; Rev. 22:18-19).

About Creation

We believe that the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them, are the direct work of God’s hands (John 1:3; Job 26:13) — created from nothing (Gen. 1; Heb. 11:3), without the process of evolution, and all that He has made He directs and governs (Ps. 115:3; Eph. 1:11) so that they fulfill the end for which they were created (Col. 1:16). We who trust in Him may rest securely in the protection of His almighty love (Acts 17:28).

About Man

We believe that God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him (Gen. 2:7). God created men and women in His own image (Gen. 1:26), distinct in gender and roles (Gen. 1:27; 2:18, 21-24 1 Cor. 11:7-9; 1 Tim. 2:12-14), but equal in worth, dignity, and inheritance (1 Pet. 3:7, Gal. 3:28), with wonderful and permanent intention, (Ps. 139:13-16), in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness (Eccles. 7:29; Eph. 4:24), requiring of man the obedience that was God’s due (1 John 2:6). It was by willfully disobeying God that man fell into sin and misery (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 1:19-32).

About Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as either male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18- 20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of TKCS and to provide a biblical role model to the student body and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by TKCS in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22).

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11).

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of TKCS.

About Racial Equity

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and must be treated with love, compassion, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Everyone has value because they bear the image of God. All are our neighbors and we are to love them as ourselves (Mark 12:31). Hateful attitudes or behavior directed toward any person or group are inconsistent with God’s unconditional love towards all.

God shows no partiality based on race or ethnicity in his offer of forgiveness and redemption to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ (Acts 10:34-35, Rom. 10:9-10). The Bible tells us that God is building a multi-ethnic Kingdom with a bold witness for a lost world (Rev. 7:9-10). As believers, we all are equal in Christ. We all stood as guilty sinners before God, in need of the same redeeming grace. In Christ, there should be no distinctions, no divisions, no separation, no favorites. Jesus unites us all (Gal. 3:28, James 2:1-9).

About Sin

We believe that through the devices of Satan (Gen. 3:13; 2 Cor. 11:8) all mankind is fallen in Adam (Rom. 5:12-19). We are by nature children of wrath (Eph. 2:3), under the condemnation of God (Gal. 3:10) and corrupted in body and soul (Eph. 4:18), prone to evil (Rom. 7:5, 15-24; Eccles. 8:11), and liable to eternal death (Rom. 6:23) and everlasting punishment (Dan. 12:2; Matt. 25:41; 2 Thess. 1:9); from this dreadful state we cannot be delivered save through the unmerited grace of God our Savior (John 3:16; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 2:11; 3:5).

About Salvation

We believe that God has not left the world to perish in its sin (2 Pet. 3:9); but, out of the great love wherewith He has loved it (John 3:16), He has from all eternity graciously chosen (Rom. 8:30; Eph. 1:4) unto Himself a multitude which no man can number (Rev. 5:9; 7:9), to deliver them out of their sin and misery.

We believe that God has redeemed His people unto Himself (1 Pet. 2:9-10) through Jesus Christ our Lord (Eph. 2:15-19; 1 Pet. 1:18); Who, though He was and ever continues to be the eternal Son of God (John 1:14; 1 John 5:20), yet was born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23), born under the law, that He might redeem them that were under the law (Gal. 4:4-5). We believe that He bore the penalty due to our sins (Isa. 53; 1 Pet. 2:24; 3:18).

About Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, our Redeemer (Acts 4:12; Gal. 3:13), died for our offenses (Isa. 53:4-12), was raised again for our justification (Rom. 4:25), and ascended into the heavens (Acts 1:9-11; Heb. 4:14-16), where He sits at the right hand of the Father Almighty (Heb. 1:3; 12:2), continually making intercession for His people (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:2). Because He governs the whole world as Head over all things for His church (Eph. 2:20-23; Col. 1:18), we surely know that nothing can snatch us out of His hands (John 10:27-30) and nothing can separate us from His love (Rom. 8:35-39).

About the Holy Spirit

We believe that the redemption wrought by the Lord Jesus is effectively applied to all His people by the Holy Spirit (John 6:63; 1 Cor. 4:13; Eph. 7:17-19), Who works faith in them and thereby unites them to Christ (1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 2:14-16). As His Spirit renews them in the whole man after the image of God (Col 3:10), they are enabled more and more to die unto sin and to live unto righteousness (Rom. 6:11; 1 Pet. 2:24); until, this gracious work having been completed (Phil. 1:6; 2 Tim. 3:17) in them, they shall be received into glory. Abiding in this hope (Titus 2:13), we must ever strive to perfect this holiness in the fear of God (Heb. 12:10).

About Sanctification

The principal acts of saving faith are accepting, receiving, and resting upon Christ alone for justification, sanctification, and eternal life (John 1:12; Acts 16:31; Gal. 2:20). Good works done in obedience to God’s commandments are the fruits and evidences of a true and living faith (James 2:18, 22):]; and by them believers manifest their thankfulness (Ps. 116:12-13; 1 Pet. 2:9), strengthen their assurance (1 John 2:3, 5; 2 Pet. 1:5-10), edify their brethren (2 Cor. 9:2), adorn the profession of the gospel (Eph. 4:1-3; Titus 2:5), stop the mouths of the adversaries (1 Pet. 2:15), and glorify God (1 Pet. 2:12), whose workmanship we are, created in Christ Jesus unto holiness and good works (Eph. 2:10) that we may have eternal life (Rom. 6:22). Thus, we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:12-13). We believe that immediately upon death the souls of Christians are made perfect in holiness (Heb. 12:23; 2 Tim. 4:6-8) and are in the presence of the Lord forever (Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 4:8).

About Christ’s Return

We believe that as Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return a second time in glory (Dan. 7:13; Matt. 24:30) according to His promise to consummate His kingdom (Matt. 24:14, 42), to judge the world in righteousness (Isa. 22:3-4), and to assign each to His eternal reward (Rev. 20:7-15). Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him (Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:51-53); and when He shall return in glory we shall be raised in Him (1 Cor. 15:42-44; 1 Thess. 4:13-19) and made perfectly blessed in the full enjoyment of God to all eternity (1 Pet. 5:10; 2 Tim. 2:10-13; Jude 24).

And to Him, our Redeemer
With the Father,
And the Holy Spirit,
Be glory forever, world without end,
Amen and Amen.

TKCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International, an organization dedicated to stemming the tide of cultural and spiritual decline through the development of academically prepared leaders who train young people to be wholehearted followers of Jesus Christ.

ACSI accreditation is a seal of excellence in Christian education. Accredited ACSI schools academically outrank other private religious schools in their graduation course requirements; and, when compared to public high schools, they rank higher in graduation rates, with those graduates going on to attain more years of higher education.

Graduates of ACSI-accredited schools rank higher than their peers in the areas of respect for authority, moral integrity and character, and a long-term life commitment to Jesus Christ and to their church.

The King’s Christian School is also accredited K through 12 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Furthermore, TKCS has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The King’s Christian School admits students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to students at the school. The King’s Christian School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic programs, and other school-administered programs.
