Differentiated learning in a loving, nurturing environment
You probably recognize that kindergarten is a special time for your child. Whether it’s their first school experience, or taking the next step after preschool, you’re looking for a place that will embrace your child’s uniqueness — one that will make them realize all the wonderful gifts God has given them.
At The King’s Christian School, we reflect the same desires for your kindergartner. As a private kindergarten in Cherry Hill, NJ, our goal is to provide an education you can believe in.

Explore how your child can thrive at TKCS.
Learning Environment
Hands-on experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
Our full-day Christian kindergarten program is designed to provide children with a strong academic foundation in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. We believe that every child is a unique creation of God, and our goal is to help them grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Academic Excellence with a Biblical Worldview
Our curriculum integrates core academic subjects with Christian values and biblical truths. Each day includes:
- Literacy & Language Arts: Phonics-based reading instruction, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Math: Hands-on activities that introduce number sense, patterns, basic operations, and problem-solving.
- Science & Social Studies: Exploration of God’s creation and the world around us through inquiry and discovery.
- Bible Time: Daily Bible stories, scripture memory, prayer, and songs that help children learn about God’s love and His Word.
Spiritual Development
Faith is woven into every part of the day. Children learn:
- Biblical character traits (honesty, kindness, patience, etc.)
- How to pray and talk to God
- Respect for God’s creation and each other
- Monthly chapel services and age-appropriate worship

Creative Expression & Play
We value play as essential to learning:
- Art & Music: Creative activities that reflect God’s beauty and help children express themselves.
- Structured & Free Play: Indoor and outdoor play that builds social skills, cooperation, and imagination.
Family Partnership
We believe that parents are the primary faith leaders of their children. Our program supports families through:
- Regular communication and progress updates
- Family events and volunteer opportunities
- Resources for spiritual growth at home
We would be honored to partner with you in nurturing your child’s heart, mind, and soul for God’s glory.

“The Kindergarten program at King’s was the best choice we could have made for our daughter. Her teachers made the huge transition to full-time schooling feel gentle and easy. Our daughter’s literacy skills flourished under her teacher, but even more important to us was the way her teacher wove Scripture and prayer into daily activities and interactions. It was the best feeling to know that our daughter’s soul was being cared for in addition to her academic and social growth.”

Learning That Inspires
What makes our approach unique at TKCS? We have rotating stations where students engage in activities like dramatic play, art, and math, making learning fun and dynamic.
Our kindergartners also practice public speaking by sharing daily journals and creating their own masterpieces in workshops. Starting with drawing and dictation, they progress to writing full sentences and even publish a class book together, enhancing both their creativity and learning.
At the kindergarten level, core subject areas include:
- Bible
- Math
- Reading (guided and shared)
- Language arts
- Social studies
- Science

Meaningful Curriculum
Our language arts and reading program includes resources like Reading A to Z and Recipe for Reading. We use thematic units for science and social studies, starting with community helpers, moving to weather and seasons, then exploring cultures, and learning about animals with a zoo trip. In addition, our math curriculum features Math in Focus from the Singapore Math Program, and our Bible lessons follow ACSI Purposeful Design.

Intentional Use of Technology
At TKCS, we use technology sparingly, ensuring it reinforces our learning without excessive screen time. For example, students enjoy watching “Vowel Bat” to introduce new letter sounds. This balanced approach helps keep their focus on interactive and hands-on activities.
Safety Features
Ways we keep students physically and emotionally safe
We want parents to have peace of mind when it comes to entrusting their children to our care. Thus, we implement modern safety measures, such as security officers, locked doors, background checks, and visitor management systems.
Our Christian culture extends beyond Bible class. In fact, kindergartners find themselves in an emotionally safe environment where teachers model what it means to care and love for one another. Correction and discipline are provided from a spiritual perspective, helping students grow in faith, obedience, and character.

What is your favorite thing about teaching kindergarten?
“I love worshiping God with the students and seeing how far they come in a short time — and how excited they are to learn. It’s also rewarding for me to meet their needs, and to see them progress. It excites me when some kids first start without knowing their letters, and by the end of the year, they can pick up a chapter book and read.”
