INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

“The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you,
and you shall love him as yourself…” Lev. 19:34 NKJV

Global Impact

Since 2003, The King’s Christian School has been privileged to host F-1 visa students from China, Vietnam, Egypt, Nigeria, and South Korea. Our school is centrally located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which is nine miles outside of Philadelphia, 1.5 hours from New York City, and 2.5 hours from Washington D.C. We are an hour drive from the ocean and from the Pocono Mountains.

Our Global Impact program has been developed to provide students with the resources necessary to build a strong academic foundation. To assist students achieve their goal of a U.S. education, we offer the following services:

Orientation

All new international students attend Orientation. For Fall semester, this is a one-week course, designed to prepare them for an American classroom setting. Students take English and math placement tests, practice their English skills, and select their classes. For Spring semester, a two-week Orientation course provides the same preparation, as well as a review of the vocabulary and concepts students will need to know as they join classes mid-year.

Academic Assistance Program (AAP)

All new international students are required to attend AAP after school three days per week for their first semester. In these sessions, students work with tutors and/or teacher-led study groups to receive extra academic assistance as they adjust to school.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

In the State of New Jersey, two years of foreign language study are a requirement for high school graduation. International students take two years of ESL to meet this requirement and hone their English proficiency skills.

“The intensive English and writing classes at TKCS prepared me for the rigors of college classes, especially in the liberal arts. I had a clear advantage over the other international students at University of California-Santa Cruz.”–Yufan, TKCS graduate, Class of 2016
